Our Beliefs: The Episcopal Church
Local
CEC is just one part of the body of Christ in our Valley. We enjoy an active partnership with other Roaring Fork Valley faith groups.
Christ Church Aspen’s aim is to worship, pray, serve and witness for the Glory of God! We realize that together we can do so much more than alone. We share in youth ministry, personal-needs based ministries, community programs, and monthly meetings. It is our desire to deepen relationships and celebrate the wonderful diversity of the faith-based churches in our community.
Regional
Christ Episcopal Church is one congregation within the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado. The term ‘episcopal’ refers to the role of the bishop as the spiritual leader of the diocese. The boundaries of the Diocese of Colorado correspond to the boundaries of the State itself. Kym Lucas is the current Bishop of Colorado. http://www.coloradodiocese.org
National
Denominationally, Christ Church Aspen belongs to The Episcopal Church (USA), the national branch (or province) of the worldwide Anglican Communion. http://www.episcopalchurch.org
International
The Anglican Communion is a world-wide affiliation of Anglican Churches. There is no single ‘Anglican Church’ with universal juridical authority, since each national or regional church has full autonomy. As the name suggests, the Anglican Communion is an association of these churches in full communion with the Church of England (which may be regarded as the ‘mother church’ of the worldwide communion), and specifically with its primate, the Archbishop of Canterbury. With over seventy-seven million members, the Anglican Communion is the third largest communion in the world, after the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.
