Dear CEC Aspen Families,
We wanted to share that Heather Rydell will be stepping away from her role as Sunday School Coordinator in December 2026.
Heather has faithfully led our Sunday School ministry for many years, helping our children learn about Jesus, grow in faith, and experience the love of God. We are deeply grateful for the care, creativity, and joy she has brought to this ministry and to our children.
Heather is making this transition so that she can spend more time caring for her family and attending to other priorities in her life. She will continue to be part of our church community and has generously offered to help behind the scenes with the Christmas Pageant as needed.
We will celebrate and thank Heather and Greg for their many years of ministry to CEC Aspen in the coming months. In the meantime, please join us in giving thanks for Heather and holding her and her family in your prayers.

Sunday School Coordinator
Christ Episcopal Church Aspen, Colorado
Position Overview
Christ Episcopal Church Aspen is seeking a warm, reliable, and creative Sunday School
Coordinator to lead and coordinate our Sunday School program for children throughout the year.
The Sunday School Coordinator will help children to know and follow Jesus, grow in their faith, and experience the love of God within the Episcopal tradition. Through Sunday School curriculum and activities that include Bible stories, prayer, worship, and arts and crafts, the coordinator will create a welcoming environment where children can ask questions, develop a relationship with Jesus, and learn what it means to live as Christians.
The coordinator will use curriculum connected to the Bible and the Episcopal Church's liturgical calendar and traditions and will work closely with the rector, parents, and a high-school student assistant.
Responsibilities
Sunday School Leadership & Coordination
• Lead and coordinate Sunday School every Sunday.
• Arrive at 9:30 a.m. and remain through approximately 11:30 a.m.
• Create a warm, welcoming, engaging, and age-appropriate environment for children.
• Help children experience the love of God and learn about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ within the Episcopal tradition.
• If unable to led Sunday School, arrange for appropriate volunteer coverage in advance.
• Work closely with the Sunday School assistant, currently a high-school student.
• Communicate with the rector and parents as needed regarding the Sunday School program.
• Assist or lead annual Christmas Pageant.
Christian Formation & Episcopal Tradition
• Select and implement a biblically based curriculum that follows the seasons and themes of the church year. (Godly Play is preferred but not required).
• Teach children about Jesus, the Bible, prayer, worship, and Christian community in ageappropriate ways.
• Help children understand the rhythms and meaning of the Episcopal liturgical calendar, including Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and other important seasons and celebrations that retell the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.
• Encourage children to ask questions and explore their faith in a way that is welcoming, thoughtful, and appropriate for their ages.
Requirements
• Familiarity with Christianity, the Biblical story, and the Episcopal tradition.
• Experience working with children, formally or informally.
• Background check and Safeguarding God's Children training are required. The church
will cover the expense of this training and certification.
• Preferred start date is December 2026.

Altar Flower Policy Change:
If you would like to bring flowers for the altar, please reach out to Leslie in the church office (970) 925-3278 or Leslie@christchurchaspen.org. The church will provide ONE vase.
