CEC Outreach Coordination Committee: Community, Service, Transformation
Our mission is to provide opportunities for members of Christ Episcopal Church to serve others in need in accordance with Galatians 6:2: Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.
In serving others, we serve Christ, and at its best, our service will be transformative to those served and a path to our personal transformation. The committee will provide the leadership and coordination of a ministry to serve those in need locally and regionally and, as we are able, those of a needy nation and world. This effort will be made possible through an annual allocation from the CEC budget, material and financial donations of individual members and volunteer service by members.
The Committee will encourage:
- Projects that offer members of the church an opportunity to work closely with one another and grow in the love and knowledge of Christ’s light;
- Projects that provide a short-term or occasional commitment so that more members can actively participate in acts of service.
- Collaborative projects with individuals and organizations in the broader community.
- Volunteer participation in other organizations.
Procedures: The Committee will follow prescribed criteria in providing funds to a project or a charitable or non-profit organization. Requests must be submitted on the Application for Funding form. It is envisioned that funding will be allocated four times annually (first Wednesdays of March, June, September, December) at CEC Outreach meetings. Projects that wish to be considered need to submit applications at least two weeks prior to that meeting. Funding will not be given directly to any individuals. Funding grants usually range from $500-$2000 each. Grants will be given to projects and organizations that fall within the Committee’s mission, especially those for which our grants will make a significant difference.
